Title: Utility Pole Inspector
Type: Direct Hire
Hourly: $20.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience
Job Summary:
A utility and telecommunications engineering firm is seeking a Utility Pole Inspector to support field operations across the Midwest. This role involves physically demanding outdoor work, including pole inspection, pesticide treatment, and accurate field data collection. Candidates must be safety-conscious, willing to travel, and comfortable working in variable weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate and work in accordance with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Manually dig 18-inch holes around utility poles for inspection access.
Complete training and testing to obtain a MDARD pesticide applicator license.
Inspect and treat utility poles, including hammering, drilling, and removing decayed wood.
Collect field data and photographs for GIS processing.
Transport and carry equipment (up to 30 lbs over distances of 150 feet or more).
Perform strenuous physical labor throughout the workday.
Support project execution with additional tasks as directed by the Project Manager.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Primarily outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.).
Long-distance walking, lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
Climbing ladders and accessing utility infrastructure (e.g., manholes).
Regional travel within Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly wage: $20.00–$22.00, depending on experience.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
Willingness to travel frequently and stay near project sites as needed.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work on rugged terrain and in various weather conditions.
Must have reliable transportation.
General understanding of public and private utilities is a plus.
